10 Surprising Tips to Energize Your Focus at Work

Building Your Concentration Power has one fundamental rule: use your attention and memory. In other words, make good use of your brain.
Here’s my personal “Decalogue” on improving concentration at work. These are strategies that have worked for my work style, regardless of the task. Sometimes it involved writing procedures for quality management, other times it was about crafting marketing copy, conducting coaching sessions, or managing project management applications. Yes, I’ve had plenty of meetings, and one-on-one discussions, and I believe they deserve a separate article.
Before diving into the steps, there’s a “Step 0” that involves a few inputs:
- What do I want to achieve?
- How will I know when I’ve achieved it?
Once I’ve answered these questions — ideally in writing — I take a moment to stop. I simply sit in silence. You might choose to say a prayer. On some days, I read a Psalm.
