A Technique for Managing Daily Stress (The ‘Zoom In — Zoom Out’ Method)
Have you felt stressed today?
Have you gotten upset because something didn’t go your way?
Is it worth it?
Now, remember your last flight. If you could see the trash on the street from the ground, what do you see from the plane? Do you still see the details that upset you?
Sure, the trash hasn’t disappeared; it’s still there, and so is the noise of the street. Trust me, when you come back, everything will still be there.
I’ve just used a technique. I call it “zoom in — zoom out.”
It’s a way to step out of daily challenges. It’s like checking your compass.
Yes, the north is still there.
The idea is to make sure you’re still on the path you set out on.
I don’t know if it has a specific name, but I know it’s a useful approach.
When you’re alone with your thoughts, it’s easy to lose your way. It’s easy to lose direction and your sense of orientation.
It’s a form of self-sabotage. Self-sabotage is a confrontation. It’s like two tectonic plates colliding. One of them is your conscious mind, and the other is your subconscious mind.
