Beyond The Tough Fearless Guy Act: Discovering Genuine Confidence
Breaking free from stereotypes to find your true strength and authenticity.
It is being tough means projecting confidence. Enduring pain or pressure without complaining. Ignoring unpleasant emotions. Repressing your feelings! That’s how we were raised. That’s our culture. That’s what’s “rewarded.”
Molding ourselves to a model. Meanwhile, building an exaggerated image of who we are. Building on a foundation that doesn’t belong to us, doesn’t define us, doesn’t help us.
Think about being tough. What comes to mind? A movie character? A book character? What are the traits?
Exactly. I fall into the same trap. The trap of the cultivated stereotype. By school, by society, by ‘culture’… And it’s counterproductive.
Because true value doesn’t start by adopting a cultivated pattern. It appears by discovering authenticity. By displaying and embracing it. Who you really are. That’s where you have a unique differentiator.
It’s the very place you need to start building from. That’s what you should aim to ‘scale.’ Without comparing yourself. It’s just you with yourself. That way, expectations are closer to reality. And achievements become tangible. And disappointments are smaller.
