Reclaiming Control: The Power of Purpose and Priorities

I prefer to ignore the news, dramas, advertisements, and almost anything that does not serve my path towards my chosen goal. Because achieving my chosen goal will give me ten times more personal satisfaction compared to the value of any short-term distraction. The boundaries of my thinking are determined by my purpose, chosen planning, and priorities. This helps overcome potential moments of distraction. My life, my rules. When vision is clear and concentration is unwavering, external opinions become mere background noise.

How do you achieve focus? By eliminating distractions. We tend to forget the goal if it’s not in the forefront of our minds. Often, the consequence is losing control over it.

“You can’t control everything that happens around you, but you can control what happens in your mind. By wisely choosing what you allow to enter your thoughts, you protect your inner peace.” — Roy T. Bennett

If you don’t control your mind, someone else will: your past, the stories you consume, or perhaps even social pressure. External judgment can only penetrate when the walls of the mind’s belief are breached.

Eleanor Roosevelt: “Your mind is your sanctuary, and you have control over it.”
