Communication between two people involves the role of the sender and receiver.

The sender transmits a message.

The receiver receives the message along with the noise perceived by the listener.

The most commonly used model to view a dialogue is sender — message — noise — receiver.

We are two people in a room where only the ticking of the clock is heard. We are having a dialogue.

When I open my mouth to say something, I become the sender.

I emit words, sentences, and phrases. You try to make sense of them. You receive them. This places you in the role of Receiver.

You hear my words, pass them through your filter, then try to decode the message.

When I finish speaking, it’s your turn to ask or add something to what I said. Then, you become the sender of the message and I am the receiver, trying to understand what you are saying…
