From Mundane Situations to Deep Reflections-Press the Right Button
Yesterday seemed like it would be an ordinary day.
At least that’s what I thought until the doorbell rang. The situation seemed mundane at first and made me ask some questions. What do you do when you don’t know which buttons to press?
Yesterday, I encountered a mundane situation that made me reflect on the importance of knowing which buttons to press and whom to call when technology gives us trouble.
At the door was a neighbor, a lovely lady of retirement age. With a nervous look on her face, she started talking:
“Filip, dear, I don’t know what to do anymore. I have an important app that’s not working at all on my phone. I’ve tried everything I can think of,” she said with a slightly trembling voice, after the usual greetings and pleasantries.
I took her phone and had a quick look.
I checked if she had enough storage on her phone, made sure she had internet access, and intuitively realized that the issue was probably with the server the app was connecting to. So, I decided it was time to press another button. I called the app’s technical support.
Within minutes, I had a friendly specialist on the line who guided me step-by-step through the process of updating the app.
