Navigating Life’s Inevitable Losses: The Best Helpful Attitude
How Embracing Sadness Can Lead to Emotional Growth and Resilience
Life is just a long string of losses, culminating in the ultimate loss, which is our very own life.
When you consider that the emotion that helps you process loss is sadness, and no one wants to appear sad because today it’s seen as shameful, what remains? What remains is anger or mental illness.
I believe the reason we see so much anger and aggression today is that people do not accept this. Loss is a natural part of life.
People feel that if you’ve lost, you have to do something. Maybe deny the sadness. But loss means exactly this: to accept that nothing is left to do. Accept the loss and live through the sadness.
Being angry because you’ve lost only means you don’t know how to handle an emotion and you’re burying a sadness you haven’t honored. This is how depression appears.
A long string of unhonored sadness, of unaccepted losses. And unlearned lessons become depression because life has its laws of functioning.
