Since you were a child, you’ve been scolded for your emotions.

You were criticized and punished for feeling fear, sadness, anger, and joy.

Even now, I see adults scolding their children for crying when they’re sad. Or threatening punishment when the child is angry.

It doesn’t matter why that child is sad, angry, or scared. In their mind, the danger is real.

The other day there was a girl, Adeline, in the park. An 8-year-old girl who was scared of a wasp that didn’t even exist. But she thought there was a wasp at the playground and got scared.

I found out that she had been stung by a wasp last year, so the fear remained. We have no reason to feel superior.
