A Year of Writing on Medium: Lessons, Challenges, and Small Wins

I confess that I’m a dinosaur.

I prefer writing by hand over typing on a keyboard.

It’s been a year since I started writing regularly on Medium. I hesitated to write on Medium for a long time because English isn’t my native language. I speak French much better, which is closer to my native tongue.

But now, not being fluent in a foreign language is no longer a major obstacle. With the help of AI, this barrier can be overcome.

However, what AI cannot do is write in your place. The texts it generates are so bad that they hurt the eyes of those who read them.

When the typewriter was invented, the press of that era published articles and public speeches about how it would flood the world with terrible writing. Now, we’re throwing rotten tomatoes at AI.

There’s nothing new under the sun. The only difference is that you and I must learn to coexist with and use a tool we weren’t unprepared for.

No one is born knowing everything. My first unpublished articles were bad. Later, the ones I did publish were just bad.
