Surprising Stoic Wisdom: Enhance Better Inner Dialogue
Improve Your Mindset with Stoic Techniques.
The Stoics were right.
It’s not about the challenge in front of us, it’s about what we tell ourselves.
The games are made by our inner dialogue. Sometimes it reflects a more active imagination, other times an excessive concern for minor issues.
It’s preferable to be aware of our thoughts. It’s preferable to optimize things before they get out of control.
Here’s an action plan, inspired by the coaching algorithm. It’s a form of self-coaching.
Step 1: Identify the problem and write it down on paper.
Often, writing on paper is avoided, and I recommend it not be avoided. Writing on paper engages more neural connections, some deeper.
Of course, it’s ideal to use a pen or pencil, because it adapts to the way you write. A pen isn’t exactly something that adapts to your writing style.
So, identify the problem. Try to focus on facts, as much as you can. It’s okay to take some time and then rephrase the problem.
It’s okay to take a break to revisit the problem later when we’re calmer and clearer.
