Leonardo da Vinci: A true Renaissance polymath

A Renaissance man is a polymath. To understand what a Renaissance man is, we need to look at the models from the Renaissance and Enlightenment periods.

Leonardo da Vinci was a polymath. Michelangelo was a polymath. Francis Bacon was a polymath.

These men were multilingual, religiously educated, and devout, inventors of ideas and things. They were also skilled in combat. They were fencers with the rapier and sword. They were also grapplers and wrestlers. Equally adept were they at using the pen.

They were knowledgeable of the literature of Antiquity and fully aware of the condition of the present. They were masters of the Classical Arts and high culture.

We’ve seen the proposal for the new Renaissance man. They are modern polymaths, surely having more to learn and experience, and they love it!
